ANÁLISE DO DISCURSO CRÍTICA DE KAREN BACHINI E REFLEXÕES SOBRE A FORMAÇÃO DE PROFESSORES A PARTIR DO MERCADO DE COSMÉTICOS

In this study, we aim to investigate practices of racial insurgency in the cosmetics market, using Karen Bachini’s discourse in her video “Open Letter to Mari Saad and Mascavo” as a reference point. In the current context, where discussions about structural racism and representation have become increasingly central, the exclusion of Black individuals—particularly those with darker skin tones—from beauty products reveals a significant social and cultural issue. By reflecting on this exclusion, we propose to expand the analysis to teacher education, considering how the invisibilization of racialized groups can be a recurring practice across various spheres, including education. For the theoretical framework, we draw on Moscovici’s (1979) discussions on social representations and Critical Discourse Studies, with an emphasis on the British tradition of Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 1989, 1995, 1997, 2003), particularly regarding the three types of meaning: actional, representational, and identificational. As a result, this study seeks to contribute to the debate on racial inclusion and offer reflections on how the educational field can adopt a critical and decolonial stance toward its practices, with the goal of preparing teachers committed to a truly pluralistic and inclusive education.
