The article reports the experience of remote teaching of mathematics in childhood edu-cation, with occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, in the first half of 2020, in Macapá-AP. We wrote work based on narrative and bibliographic research, using the descriptive method to participate in the university extension project. The research team conducted a thematic interview with teacher Antonia Lucia do Santos Moura Cardoso to document her narrative, besides collecting messages and
photographs shared in the Whatsapp Group of the class of the 1st year class of a private school. The
COVID-19 pandemic impacted the mathematical literacy of six-year-old students, as social isolation
measures, reduction of crowding, and suspension of the public services have generated consequences
for public and private schools in Brazil. Children actively participated in the works proposed by the
teacher in teaching remote, even being the first in using Whatsapp to study math.
